The Daytona can look intimidating but it is a very simple watch to operate. The 3 sub-dials are, at the 6 o'clock position a standard seconds dial, at 3 o'clock a 30 minute timer for the stopwatch function, and at the 9 o'clock position a 12 hour timer for the stopwatch.
I inquired about the Daytona list after buying my 114060 in May. I was out on the list for the Sub in December 2019 and told it would be 1.5-2 years; it turned out to be only 6 months. As for the Daytona, they quoted me 8 years for the white dial lol. said I .
The Daytona is almost like science fiction to me. If I walked into an AD, and there was one in the display case available at retail, then I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Since that'll never happen, I never even think about this watch to be honest. Not sure how much you already know, but if this is your first Rolex, you can't simply walk in an AD and out with a steel Daytona. If you have no purchase history, no one will put you on a legitimate wait list.
