I have no chipping on YSL logo and I also have the credit card slip with black hardware and I definitely don't baby it and it has zero wear. However I know a friend of mine bought this bag New from Harrods and it already had chipping on the chain so she returned. The store shipped it back to the "mothership" and they replaced it for me. That shouldn't be happening to hardware. For me, they said that there was a defect on the coating causing the metal to rust. You could try a polishing cloth for gold and silver hardware.

It worked great, and it helped make a few scratches disappear. You don’t have to baby this bag – it’s not easy to scratch, even if it bumps into things when you’re walking or swinging it around. And mine doesn’t have any obvious scratches on it. (I only noticed a few tiny scratches on the YSL logo and some dust around it).
